-Wow! That’s a mouth full! I want to remind everyone this summer that it’s o.k. not to attend everything. Use this time to spend with your family and invest in them as well. Sometimes these “events” can take over our main purpose to Know God. Our heart and desire this summer is staying intentional. Our spiritual lives don’t just co-exist with these “fun events” but they in fact should stand alone, our faith in God is everything and everywhere!
James urges us to express true faith in our daily living, whatever we do!
James 2:22 “You see that his faith and actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.” It gives no boundaries such as church walls, our faith and actions should be practiced from Sunday school to Turner Falls to all things! That is our desire through these “events” to teach and model such a message-Living Faith.
Please contact me with any questions or details, I would be glad to talk with you! Note: details subject to change.
Thank you for allowing us to be involved in your families as we both seek to further the youth’s love for Jesus Christ,
Your Youth Pastor & Team,
-James Hilbrand
Happy Birthday to All Our June
Birthdays!
With summer just around the corner I thought I would give you a couple more book recommendations. The first is one I ust finished and the second, one I just recently began but has already made an impact.
1. A Tale of Two Sons, by John MacArthur. This book gives an in-depth look at the story of the prodigal son, the loving Father, and the bitter older brother. The customs and cultural insights that are revealed bring added depth and richness to a timeless story. My own heart was overwhelmed as I saw the love of Christ for me on display in this story.
2. A Grace Disguised, by Jerry Sittser. This is a book for those who have suffered loss. It main goal is to answer the questions “What meaning can be gained from suffering and how can we grow through suffering?” The author speaks from deep personal experience as he shares his own story. Driving home from a family outing a drunk driver slammed into his vehicle filled with his wife, 4 children, and mother. That night Mr. Sittser lost his wife, mother, and 4 yr. old daughter.
This book can be a helpful resource to those who are suffering any kind of loss. The author mentions divorce, death, cancer, infertility, unemployment, bankruptcy, and many others forms of loss.
Both books will bring hope and encouragement to your soul.
For His Glory,
Pastor Rick
